Overview
What Bana does
Closeout is the last step of a specialty contracting job and usually the slowest. The work is done, the tests have passed, and the project cannot be invoiced until someone assembles every photo, test report, label, and port map into a turnover package the general contractor will accept. That assembly is where days disappear and where proof goes missing.
Bana makes the package a by-product of the work. Each day, technicians file a GPS-verified report from their phone and attach proof to every point they installed: photos, video, measured values, test reports, port maps. Points complete themselves when their checklist is satisfied, the office watches progress against the plans, and when the job is done the turnover package is assembled from the records rather than from memory.
Who it is for
- Specialty contractors in low-voltage and structured cabling, electrical, fire alarm, solar and EV, lighting, building automation, telecom and fiber, and signage.
- Project managers and office staff who are responsible for the package being complete, correct, and delivered on time.
- Field technicians who capture the proof once, at the point, in their own language, instead of again at a desk.
- General contractors and customers who get a read-only portal and a daily email instead of a phone call.
What you get
- Points register. Your own point types with ID prefixes and proof checklists. Defaults cover cameras, access control, drops, intercoms, sensors, access points, speakers, and panels. Every status change is logged.
- Per-point proof. Photos and short video with location data stripped, measured values, test report attachments, and structured port-map rows.
- TIA-606-style identifiers and port maps. Rename point IDs to match the standard so the register reads the way the next contractor expects.
- GPS-verified daily reports. One reading per report, checked against the jobsite. Off-site reports are flagged for the office, never blocked.
- Multi-language. Technicians work in their own language; the office sees one record.
- Plans and pins. Upload the PDF drawing set and pin points to its pages. A new set archives the old one with its pins intact.
- Schedule and reminders. Full or half work days set reporting deadlines, reminders, and missed-report notices by text.
- Field requests. Material, tool, information, access, decision, and scope requests with urgency, and change requests from the customer.
- Device replacements. The removed device’s make, model, serial, condition, and where it went, ready for the replacement schedule.
- Closeout package. A versioned package: the PDF plus every file sorted by point and date, with one version released to the GC.
- Customer portal. Read-only access for the GC or owner with a daily email.
- Data export. CSV tables and the full file structure for a project or the whole organization.
How it runs
Bana is a hosted service. One Ten Labs runs it in the cloud, keeps it updated, and operates the infrastructure; your office signs in from a browser and your crews work from a text link on their phones. A 30-day trial with no card lets you run it on a real job first.
Where your closeout process differs from the standard one, the same three options apply as for every product:
- Start with Bana as it is.
- Tailor it to your workflow as an engagement: integrations with estimating or project management tools, custom package sections, or your own point types and checklists set up for you.
- Build something new from scratch if the problem turns out to be bigger than closeout.
Tailoring or building is a fixed-scope, fixed-term engagement with a named lead, like everything else we do.
Where it came from
Bana exists because the same closeout problem came up more than once in client work: a finished job waiting on a binder. When we see the same problem three times, we turn the solution into a product, so the next crew starts from something that already works.
Related services: workflow automation for the processes around closeout, and integrations for connecting Bana to the tools you already run.
